Your 19 Steps to Tech Savvy Librarianship

Listed below are 19 steps to explore and expand your knowledge of the Internet and its latest technology. Hershey Public Library employees will receive one hour of paid time per week to complete the program. You are encouraged to complete all items on this list by January 26 in order to receive your Techstarz Certification and be eligible for great prizes, including yardwork, sweets and savories, movie tickets, and flash drives!

Step 3. Create your own blog to begin your Techstarz Journey!

Week 3: Web-Based Applications
Step 4. Complete the Zoho Challenge.

Week 4: Wikis and Libraries
Step 5. Learn about wikis and some innovative ways that libraries are using them.

Week 5: Building the HPL Wiki
Step 6. Add your original contribution to the HPL Techstarz Wiki.

Week 6: RSS Feeds
Step 7. Explore RSS feeds and set your own Bloglines account.

Week 7: RSS and Libraries
Step 8. Locate a few useful library-related blogs and news feeds.

Week 8: Facebook
Step 9. Explore Facebook and use it to connect with HPL.

Week 9: Twitter
Step 10. Explore Twitter and use it to connect with HPL.

Week 10: Tagging
Step 11. Explore tagging and folksonomies through Del.icio.us, Technorati, and LibraryThing.

Week 11: MP3
Step 12. Complete the MP3 Challenge.
